Abstract
418,836. Hydraulic accumulators. TAYLOR, A. W., and TAYLOR, A. H., 5, New Brown Street, Manchester. May 9, 1933, No. 13420. [Class 69 (ii).] A pneumatically-loaded hydraulic accumulator comprises a tank C fed from a surge-tank D by means of a centrifugal pump E driven by an electric motor K, a valve or pressureresponsive member a<1> connected to an electric relay G to control the operation of the pump, an adjustable and automatically-operating stopvalve b, and an air-compressor F which may also be controlled by a relay. Exhaust liquid enters the surge-tank, which is also provided with a supplementary supply m, by a pipe d<1> ; the pump is supplied by a pipe d and feeds the tank by a pipe A, in which the valve &c. a<1> together with one-way and sluice valves a, a<2> are disposed. The stop-valve b and a sluice valve bl are provided in the draw-off pipe B. The air-compressor F may be controlled by the member a<1> or by a separate control or by hand and may be driven by the motor K or by a separate motor. Clutches k, k<1>, are provided between the motor K and the pump and compressor F. The inlet and outlet pipes A, B may be replaced by a single pipe having branches leading to the pump and surge-tank ; further, when a valve is provided at a<1>, it may serve as a relief-valve. The tank C may be provided with a manhole, a safety-valve and a gauge c<1>.
