Abstract
415,932. Treating liquids with gases. PRIME, L., 21, Rue du Parc, La Louviere, Belgium. Dec. 18, 1933, No. 35570. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1932. Addition to 415,899. [Class 55 (ii).] A saturator for the production of ammonium sulphate in which the liquid is set into rotation by a stream of gas comprises a vertical injector 6 in the lower part of the vessel through which the gaseous reagent is introduced, after entering through ports 12 and passing through a cooling jacket 4 and pipes 5, and a riser tube 8 extending vertically upwards from the injector along the axis of the saturator, the riser tube having at its upper end one or more outlet pipes 10 terminating in a portion transverse to the axis of the riser tube and adapted to discharge the liquid stream tangentially to a circle concentric with the wall of the vessel. A plurality of additional injectors 11 with supplementary gas supplies through pipes 13 may be provided if desired. Sulphuric acid may be introduced through the part B. Apertures permitting the passage of gas may be provided in a pipe 14 beneath the injector 6 to prevent the crystals settling too tightly and facilitating their evacuation through a device 3.
