Abstract
415,600. Implements for working land ; distributers for seeds. CHARLEY, N. G., Madras Agricultural Department, Lawley Road, Coimbatore, Madras, India. Oct. 20, 1933, No. 29104. [Class 6 (i).] A seed drill or cultivating apparatus comprises a two-wheeled carriage provided with a tiltable upwardly-directed frame carrying furrow-openers 9, levelling boards, or cultivating tools, and with a strut 13 or the like detachably connected at one end to the upper part of the tiltable frame and hinged at the other end to the draw-bar or draught frame of the carriage, for the purpose of setting or holding the furrow-openers &c. in the ground and allowing of raising them to facilitate transport. The axle 5 passes through bearing blocks 4 on the tiltable frame 1 and the furrow-openers 9 or cultivating tools are bolted to a cross-bar 7 adjustably connected to the frame 1 by a stirrup bolt 8. The draught frame 11 is pivoted on the bearing blocks 4 and carries a cross-bar 12 to which a draught pole 10 is connected. The strut 13 is adjustably connected between two plates 14 on the draught frame by a removable pin. It is also connected by a removable pin to the upper part of the frame 1 which carries a seed distributer 15 provided with seed tubes 16 and operable by hand or by gearing. For transport the upper end of the strut is detached from the frame 1 and turned down on to the draught pole 10 and the frame 1 is turned down on the draught frame 11, thus raising the furrow-openers 9.
