Abstract

415,440. Thermionic valves. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., and WALKER, F. M., Highbury Grove, London. Feb. 24, 1933, No. 5723. [Class 39 (i).] Insulating spacing members in a thermionic valve are rigidly supported from the pinch by two metal rods which are connected, by short metal rods passing over said spacing members, to the supporting rods of a grid which is earthed when the valve is in use. The grid may also be connected to the cathode when this is substantially earthed with respect to high-frequency currents. In the example shown, a screen-grid pentode has its electrodes spaced apart by mica bridges 7 8, and rigidly supported by rods 10, 11 sealed into the pinch, and connected to the suppressor grid 4 by short rods 12, 13. The screen grid 3 has a cap 3<a> closing it at the top and further screening is provided by a shield 3b supported on and electrically connected to the rods 10, 11. The cathode may be directly or indirectly heated.
