Abstract

414,727. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and MARRIS, G. C., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Feb. 8, 1933, No. 3869. [Class 38 (ii).] A transformer adapted for use in radio receiving apparatus comprises a plurality of separate and similar cores constructed wholly or in part of magnetic material, each bearing a fixed winding, mounted in close relationship so that the windings have different magnetic circuits and the magnetic circuit of any coil is linked through a substantial part of the adjacent core. The cores are E-shape in cross-section, their bases being adjacent the faces of their limbs 2, 3 and a top closing plate 5 is provided. During assembly the inductance values are adjusted by varying the number of coil turns or by removing material from the rim or boss, or by the insertion of magnetic washers, and the coupling may be varied by varying the thickness of the base part, by drilling holes therein or by inserting thin layers of non-magnetic material.
