Abstract
414,575. R÷ntgen ray tubes. MULLER AKT.-GES., C. H. F., 24, R÷ntgenstrasse, Fuhlsb³wel, Hamburg, Germany. Dec. 22, 1933, No. 36124. Convention date, Dec. 23,1932. [Class 39 (i).] In R÷ntgen-ray apparatus in which the R÷ntgen-ray tube and a high tension supply transformer are enclosed in a common housing to form a unit, a cylindrical portion of the R÷ntgen-ray tube bears without high tension insulation against a metal part of the transformer connected to earth while the apparatus is on load, for instance against the magnetic core of the transformer, and the wall of the R÷ntgen-ray tube consists of metal or is furnished with a metal coating through the whole section that bears on the transformer. As shown, the high tension transformer has a core 25 against which bears the metal sleeve 29 forming part of the R÷ntgen-ray tube. To the ends of the sleeve 29, which are bent inwards, are sealed glass funnels 30 supporting the electrodes. Insulating pieces 31, 32 surround the supply conductors in the funnels 30, and the cables 26, 27 complete the connection to the transformer. To the earthed envelope 33 is secured a cooling fan 34, and the apparatus is eccentrically supported on a support 35. In a modification the tube has a metal middle portion, and the glass parts have a metal coating where they would bear on the transformer core. Insulating cylinders are provided between the outer metal envelope of the apparatus and the glass parts of the tube.
