[Class 39 (i)] [See also Group XIII] An electric discharge tube such as a lamp 1. with thermionic electrodes 2 is provided with a heat-retaining envelope which consists of three or more concentric cylinders 5 .. 7 sealed together at alternate ends and rigidly clamped between flanges 9 on sleeves 8 screwing on to the caps 3 of the tube. The cylinders 5.. 7 are of glass separated from the flanges 9 by asbestos washers 10.
