Abstract
414,251. Thermionic valve circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Wolff, I. ; 41, W. Walnut Avenue, Merchantville, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Oct. 30, 1933, No. 30080. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] A resistance material the resistance of which is proportional to CI-a (where I is the current and C and a are constants), e.g. the material known under the Registered Trade Mark "Thyrite" is employed in intervalve couplings to compensate for the curvature of valve characteristics. It may be employed as a simple coupling resistance or in a coupling network as shown in Fig. 5 in which 7 and 9 are "Thyrite" elements. The battery 11 which may be omitted is for modifying the initial value of the element 9. In the coupling network shown in Fig. 6 the elements 7, 13 are initially biassed in opposite directions by a battery 15. In a further modification a "Thyrite" element forms part of a shunt across the secondary of an intervalve transformer and may be polarized by the biassing battery. Any of the networks described may be used in conjunction with transformers.
