[Class 20 (iii).] One edge of a casement, fanlight, or like window, and a constraining-link, are pivoted to blocks adapted to slide in channelled parts of the frame, means being provided for anchoring either the sash-blocks or the link-blocks so that, in the latter case, the exterior glazing may be exposed to the interior of the room. As shown, the end members 24, 25 of the sash are pivoted by pins 28 on blocks 29 fitting the channelled frame-members 20, 21. Links 31, 36 are pivoted to the sash and to blocks 35, also slidable along the frame-members 20, 21. Figs. 2 and 3 show respectively open positions of the window when the link-blocks and sash-blocks are anchored. Fig. 9 shows means for selectively determining the manner of opening comprising a rocking-lever 45 pivoted at 46 on a casing 47 and having arms 48, 50 to form abutments for lugs 49, 51 on the blocks 29 and 35 respectively. A knob 52 is fitted to the lever 45 and the upper lever may be simultaneously operated by a dog on a vertical spindle 55. The lever device may be replaced by spring-controlled plungers, setscrews, or the like. Anti-friction devices, such as balls or rollers, may be fitted between the blocks and the framing; and, to assist in holding the window in its adjusted positions, friction devices such as fibre washers or springs may be fitted at the link-pivots.
