Abstract
412,799. Thermostats. BRESSON ET CIE, 241, Avenue Gambetta, and THOMAS, S. J. B., 108, Boulevard Jourdain, both in Paris. Sept. 7, 1933, No. 24814. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1932. [Class 64 (ii).] A compensated thermal switch has the current carrying thermal member in the form of a Y-shaped strip cut from a bimetallic blank and arranged so that the current passes only through the two converging limbs of the Y-shaped strip. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the Y-shaped strip a, a<2> has two converging limbs a which are bent over near their ends and clamped at a<4> to two terminals. The current thus passes directly through the limbs a and the heat produced is conducted to the third limb a<2> which carries a contact a<3> at its free end. Opposite the contact a<3> is mounted a contact b<1> mounted at the end of a second relatively fixed bimetallic strip b which has its end clamped in a block c and has an adjusting screw d. The longitudinal axis of the strip b is arranged to be in a different vertical plane from that of the movable strip a, a<2> to prevent the heating up of the latter from affecting the former strip, any bending of this strip arising from, and compensating for, changes in ambient temperature.
