Abstract
410,825. Handle-bars. BLEASDALE, J. J., 18, Coleridge Street, Blackburn. Nov. 25, 1932, No. 33322. [Class 136 (iii).] A handle-bar for cycles &c. is made in two parts which are connected with the stem or central T-socket &c. by universal joints, so that the two parts can not only be turned about their own axes to raise or lower their cranked ends, but can also be turned in any direction to enable the handles to be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly, or towards or away from one another, or to be tilted to any angle. The T- socket A is provided with cups B fitting over spherical heads C on tubular fittings c, which are brazed &c. in the inner ends of the two parts D of the handle-bar. The socket is split at E and provided with apertured lugs F to receive a screw or bolt adapted to clamp the parts D after adjustment. Alternatively, each cup B may be split and provided with lugs to receive separate clamping bolts or screws. The contacting surfaces of the heads C and cups B may be roughened. The cups may be made by contracting cylindrical parts about the spherical heads C by pressure.
