Abstract

409,843. Testing breaking strength of lines. LE CLAIR, L. J., Raycroft, Ray Mill Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire. Jan. 10, 1933, No. 866. [Class 106 (ii).] A device for testing fishing lines &c. comprises a tubular casing 1 in which is enclosed a tubular member 6 housing a spring 5 which is secured at one end to the base 2 of the casing and at the other end to a rod 8 passing through a hole in the cap 7 at the end of the member 6. The line to be tested is secured to an eye 9 on the rod and pulled the spring being extended and carrying with it the member 6. When the line breaks the member 6 the member being slotted at its lower end and expanded slightly outwards to provide a friction grip, is held by friction at the point reached, the member 6 is graduated in any suitable units.
