[Classes 81 (ii) and 130.] Containers a for smoking products are so connected to mouthpieces u that the quantity released may be regulated. The neck c of the container is screwed within a non-cylindrical bush l housed within a sleeve m connected to the casing b by webs bl. A tube n extends from the mouthpiece and terminates in strips o, o<1>, the latter carrying a right-angled piece k having an aperture which may be brought into register with ports d in the neck c, and its surrounding members. The annular space around the tube n is open to the atmosphere by way of ports p, and contains a piston q. On drawing out the mouthpiece so that the ports d, k are in alignment a chamber z is filled from the container a. The mouthpiece is pushed in until the webs b<1> cease to close the sides of the chamber z. The smoke passes into the tube n and space s below the piston q which moves until the pressure on both sides is atmospheric. The mouthpiece is finally withdrawn to an intermediate position, in which there is communication between the space s and the mouthpiece bore by way of ports t, t<1>. Stops x, x<1> are provided on the tubes m, n. The upper end of the container a contains a spring-pressed piston to which is attached a ribbon g passing across the opening i and bearing a scale whereby the amount of unconsumed product may be ascertained.
