Abstract
407,478. Pistons. WAGNER, K. F., 86, Obere Birkenwald-Strasse, Stuttgart, Germany.-(also assignee of Klumpp, J.) Dec. 9, 1932, Nos. 34929, 34930, and 34931. Convention dates, Dec. 11, 1931, Dec. 24, 1931, and Nov. 17, 1932. [Class 122 (i).] To avoid formation of interstices on cooling between light metal pistons and steel rings g, h carried thereby, the latter are slotted or divided at o and cast in the piston or pressed into grooves therein, the ends or slotted portions of the ring being subsequently welded together. The skirt is made resilient by four longitudinal recesses e the walls of which may be slit at k. These recesses are covered by projections t on the rings. The ring h may extend below the lower edge of the skirt, or when embedded therein, may be provided with longitudinal extensions on the maximum thrust faces. The ring g when embedded in the skirt may have holes u, Fig. 6, for the passage of ribs connecting the head and skirt.
