Abstract
407,251. Perforating well casings. ELKINGTON, H. D., 20, Holborn, London.- (Naamlooze Vennootschap de Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij; 30, Carel van Bylandtlaan, The Hague.) Aug. 4, 1933, No. 21992. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to apparatus adapted to discharge projectiles for perforating well casings in situ, and consists mainly in making the cylindrical barrel B, Fig. 1, for the projectiles E with a truncated conical part C in which is fitted a plug D of semi-plastic material forming an effective seal under external pressure. The bore for the electric detonator G is sealed by a similar plug F surrounded by an external ring I. Suitable sealing materials are copper, rubber, and rubber compositions. Two barrels are arranged in a body L in line with each other in opposite directions to annul recoil, and the projectiles therein are discharged by a single central charge A. Several such bodies L are connected together by collars H and lowered into the well casing K with the barrels of the several bodies in different directions, for example as shown in Fig. 3.
