Abstract

405,686. Pistons. SIMMONS, A. W., and WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SAXBY SIGNAL CO., Ltd., 82, York Road, King's Cross, London. Aug. 10, 1932, No. 22438. [Class 122 (i).] A flexible diaphragm for fluid-actuated apparatus has flanges 1, 2, Fig. 1, connected by an intermediate portion 3, and is so mounted as to be deformed in opposite annular folds of different radii which are kept constant during the movement of the diaphragm. The flanges are secured to a support 4, Figs. 2 and 3, and follower 5, one fold lying against a projection 10 or 11. The diaphragm is preferably formed of moulded rubber with an internal reinforcement of fabric, and the flange 1 may be replaced by a flat imperforate base.
