Abstract

404,385. Eccentric-actuated pumps; varying stroke. SMITH, R. J., 2, Heath Avenue, NEWTON, C. A., Park Lane House, both in Littleover, Derby, and ROE, R. C., Meadow House, Rochdale. July 30, 1932, No. 21557. [Class 102 (i).] In a hydraulic transmission gear comprising a pump and motor, manually operated means for adjusting the pump eccentric comprises a piston a, Fig. 1, with a controlling piston valve b, the valve spindle and piston rod being connected by a floating lever d having a roller f engaging a cam c on a hand-operated shaft 2. Automatic adjusting means comprises a cylinder k, Fig. 2 movable on a fixed piston m against the action of a spring j by the pressure between the pump and motor said cylinder k acting through a cam surface i and lever h on the ported sleeve g surrounding the valve b. When a predetermined pressure is exceeded, it opens a valve q and acts on the open end of the cylinder to cause the pump eccentric to be moved into the neutral position.
