Abstract
404,103. Rising-hinges. PARKES, S. R., Pretoria Works, New Road, Willenhall, Staffordshire. Oct. 11, 1932, No. 28242. [Class 65 (ii).] A rising-hinge is formed of sheet steel members with their edges curled over to form sockets for the hinge pin. One member 1 (the fixed member in the form shown) has two socket portions 5, 8, the latter having a rising cam surface 7 to engage a corresponding surface on the single socket portion 14 of the other member 2. The hinge pin 9 is secured to the member 1. In a modification, the socket portion 5 and the upper edge of the socket portion 14 are also formed with rising cam surfaces, so that the hinge can be turned over for use with a door of the opposite hand. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 10120/89, 8542/90, 2043/03, and 5023/03, [all in Class 65, Hinges &c.].
