Abstract
403,825. Excavators. DEMAG AKT.- GES., 64, Werthausertstrasse, Duisburg, Germany. Feb. 6, 1933, No. 3575. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1932. [Class 68 (i).] In back digging scoop-arm excavator with the scoop pivoted to the arm, the hoisting cable is connected with a braking or like device by which it may be held relatively to the jib and is also connected directly or indirectly to the scoop so that the latter may be moved by the arm while maintaining approximately the same angular position in space. In Fig. 1, the scoop arm 3 has an extension carrying a pulley 6 over which the hoisting cable 5 passes to the scoop 7 ; the cable 5 may be held by a clamp 8 and the scoop may then be moved by the arm 5 without dumping. A stop 19 limits relative movement of the scoop. In Fig. 2, the hoisting cable 5 is fixed to a bell crank 10 connected to a drum 14 with a fluid operated band brake 15; the bell crank is connected to the scoop by a cable or rod 11. The bell crank may be replaced by a sector or drum and other forms of linkage may be provided.
