Abstract
403,655. Spectacles. GRIFFITH, F. F. W., 58G, Hatton Garden, London. June 23, 1932, No. 17763. [Class 97 (i).] A spectacle frame comprises a bridge formed from a single length of metal and composed of at least three sections, viz. a central section 12, Fig. 1, bowed to fit the bridge of the nose and two side sections 13 extending downwardly and shaped to fit the sides of the nose, two further virtual sections 14 extending forwardly from the lower ends of the sections 13 to the eye rims 11 or lens carriers. The bridge may be further connected to the rims 11 by short struts 28. Fig. 1 shows a modification for rimless spectacles in which the further sections 19 extend upwardly from the side sections 18 and are secured to the straps 16, the sections 19 being of a length comparable with that of the sections 18. The sections 19 may be of a springy nature. The side sections 18 may be lined with pads. For spectacles of the covered type, the central section only is covered, the side sections being concealed by covered rims. The forward surface of the central section may be ornamented.
