Abstract
402,241. Plate heat-exchangers. HARRISON RADIATOR CORPORATION, Lockport, New York, U.S.A. Nov. 10, 1932, No. 31838. Convention date, July 25. [Class 64 (iii).] A cooling radiator or similar heat - exchanger comprises water passages 1 divided by separator strips 7 which have openings associated with deflectors 9 or 10 which direct the air passing through the radiator progressively in one direction only from cell to cell. The deflectors may be formed by making pairs of spaced slits in the strip 7 and twisting the material between as shown at points 10 in Fig. 5. Single slits may also be used, the metal being pressed up on one side of the slit and down on the other. The strips 7 engage with grooves 4 in the water passage walls and indentations 6 are provided in the water passage walls to hold them apart and prevent collapse.
