[Class 132 (ii).] Golf or other club shafts, racket handles etc., comprise a number of longitudinal metallic or non-metallic inner and outer sections g, f. In manufacture, the respective inner and outer sections are first bonded by adhesiveandformed to the required shape. Adhesive is then applied to contiguous faces, the sections are clamped, and bound if necessary, twisted about the longitudinal shaft axis as shown in Fig. 1, and so held until the adhesive has set. The direction of twist may differ for right and left handed clubs, the twist may be uniform or non-uniform, and the twisting operation may be facilitated by previously softening the shaft, for example, by a steaming process. Alternate sections g, f may be of different woods, such as bamboo, greenheart or hickory, and a core e, Fig. 3, metallic or nonmetallic, may be provided, a thread being wrapped around a metallic core to assist in cementing it in position. According to the first Provisional Specification the inner and outer sections g, f may be twisted in opposite directions in which case the inner series g would form a circular section when assembled. Alternatively, the respective inner and outer shaft sections may be replaced by single triangular sections with or without a core.
