Abstract
398,533. Power-generating systems. MASTERMAN, A. L., 41, Oakham Road, Harborne, Birmingham. March 15, 1932, No. 7595. [Class 122 (iii).] High-pressure steam from a boiler b is passed through a desuperheater c and used in a reciprocating engine d, which exhausts through a coil e heating a low-pressure boiler f supplying steam to a turbine or other power unit k. The condensate of the high-pressure exhaust is returned to the high-pressure boiler by a pump h. The low-pressure steam is passed through a superheater j above the boiler b. The condensate of the low-pressure exhaust is returned to the boiler f by a pump p and is used on its way to the boiler to condense in a condenser g low-pressure steam serving as make-up feed for the high-pressure boiler. A byepass u with a loaded valve t allows high-pressure steam to pass directly to the coil e when the high-pressure engine is stopped.
