Abstract
397,751. Wrapping-machines. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINEN-FABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauer Strasse, Dresden, Germany. Jan. 6, 1933, No. 525. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1932. [Class 94 (i).] In the wrapping of batches of cigarettes and the like, the articles are fed between guiding plates disposed above and below them, which move to engage the wrapper and effect a preliminary folding thereof. The cigarettes 2 are fed from the bottom of a hopper into the range of pushers 7 on an endless chain 8 which advance them over a table 4. Plates 11, 12 are arranged to move with the batch and to engage the wrapper 21 and carry it, as shown, into contact with spring- mounted flaps 19, 20, thereby defining the forward horizontal edges of the packet to be formed. The plates are then retracted sufficiently to allow passage of the pusher 7, the continued movement of which carries the cigarettes and wrapper into a folding box 22, 23, 24, in which the wrapper is applied to form an open-ended packet in an appropriate manner. The return run of the chain 8 may be above or below the table 4.
