Abstract
397,352. Rotary engines. CARR•, P., Mailly- La- Ville, Yonne, France. Dec. 6, 1932, No. 34541. Convention date, April 1. [Class 110 (ii).] A rotary internalcombustion engine comprises a rotor 2 having three pistons 2a co-operating with two abutment rotors 5, 6 provided with recesses 8, 7. The rotors are geared together by teeth 21, or may only engage frictionally. Fuel gas is sucked in through a passage 9, exploded in the combustion chamber 11, expanded behind a piston and exhausted by way of a passage 10. Laminated packing blocks 3 are provided in the rotor 5, and T-shaped bars 4 in the tips of the pistons. Cooling water enters a conduit 1a and leaves through a port 1b. The chamber 11 may lead to an external chamber. The rotor may be cooled, and the number of pistons may be varied. In a modification the axes of the three rotors are arranged such that a smaller angle is given to the compression side and a larger angle to the expansion side. Several piston rotors may be placed on the same shaft or arranged planet wise. The engine may operate on the Diesel principle.
