Abstract
A core for an oxide-coated thermionic cathode contains titanium or aluminium, or both, in a proportion of not more than 5 per cent, the core, when aluminium is present, containing not substantially less than 2 per cent thereof. The main constituent of the core is nickel, nickel alloys, iron, or platinum. Titanium may be introduced in the form of ferro-titanium, the final alloy containing iron and titanium. Specifications 274,027, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], 279,890, 330,280, and 334,460, [all in Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.], are referred to.
