Abstract
397,082. Coke ovens. OTTO & CO., GES., DR. C., 9, Christstrasse, Bochum, Germany. May 12, 1933, No. 13856. Convention date, May 21, 1932. [Class 55 (i).] The oven chambers b are provided at their narrow ends with vertical walls c which enclose narrow spaces d<1>, d<2> containing nozzles h<1>, h<2> for the supply of steam or tar, and connected with outlets f<1>, f<2> leading to receivers g<1>, g<2>. These outlet spaces d<1>, d<2>, which are located in a temperature zone of at least 700‹ C., serve alternately for the discharge of gas and the introduction of the gas-making fluid. The gas formed in the upper part of the chamber b is collected in a horizontal passage at the top of the chamber, from which passage it passes to the delivery pipe f<1>, f<2> which is open at the moment, but a separate gas outlet may be used.
