Abstract

396,511. Roller bearings. RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO., Ltd., Stanley Works, RICHARDSON, C. G. H., Cromwell House, Balderton, both in Newarkon-Trent, and HICKLING, F. O., 56, Davies Road, Nottingham. May 9, 1932, No. 13350. [Class 12 (i).] In a needle roller bearing in which cylindrical rollers a have hemispherical ends g, the inner race track is constituted by the shaft b, and retaining lips f, overhanging the roller ends, are carried by one of the race tracks so as to terminate short of the other race track. The lips may be integral with the shaft or housing, or may consist of sleeves or rings secured to the shaft or housing by shrinking or peening into grooves. The rollers may be accommodated in a groove in the shaft. As shown in Fig. 6, the lips are formed by rings e separated by a ring m which forms the housing.
