Abstract

396,145. Valve circuits for wireless reception. SOWERBY, A. L. M., 85, Westbourne Grove, Paddington, and COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., 22, Highbury Grove, both in London. March 2, 1932, No. 6352. [Class 40 (v).] In a super-heterodyne receiver, the local oscillation generator has one of its electrodes conductively connected to an electrode interposed between the anode and signal input electrode of the valve for receiving the incoming signals. The incoming signals are received by a tuned circuit L1, C1, and applied to the control grid of a four-electrode valve V1, whose second or screen grid is connected to the anode of the triode oscillator V2. The intermediate frequency is taken from a transformer whose primary winding L2 is tuned by a condenser C2. The screen grid of the valve V1 is preferably connected to the tapping on the inductance L4 coupled to inductance L3 to adjust the amplitude of the local oscillation. Alternatively an impedance may be included in the conductive connection, Fig. 2 (not shown). The oscillator V2 may have a tuned grid circuit instead of the tuned anode circuit L4, C4, Fig. 3 (not shown).
