Abstract

395,730. Electrostatic screens. NORTH & SONS, Ltd., Whippendell Road, and ALLEN, A. MASSEY-, 142, Queen's Avenue, both in Watford, Hertfordshire. Jan. 21, 1932, No. 1908. [Class 38 (i).] A screen for electrically screening a sparking-plug to prevent interference with adjacent apparatus such as wireless sets, comprises a metal casing a projecting from the body of the plug and formed with a lateral opening for the cable c, the casing being secured by a cap i which screws on to the plug terminal m. The lower edge e of the casing is formed with a number of small recesses which engage the nut f on the plug so that it may be held against rotation. A metal ring p embedded in an insulating lining d and having a pointed projection q, forms the electrical connection between the cable c and the plug terminal m. The metal cap i is provided with an insulating socket part k projecting into the casing and having a metal lining l which screws on to the terminal m until it abuts against the ring p. The depending edge of the cap i may be swaged into engagement with a groove or a series of recesses o in the casing a.
