Abstract

Switch covers and cases.-A tumbler switch is made waterproof and the metal parts isolated from contact with the hand by means of a rubber sheath with a nipple formation A<1> to accommodate the tumbler arm and a U.shaped rim portion A<3> to fit under and be clamped by the screwed cover. The nipple permits the operation of the switch, and all the external metal parts are covered by the sheath. In order completely to prevent access of moisture the base is mounted on a pad of rubber, Fig. 5, having recessed parts thickened round their edges and centrally pierced so that the leads forced through the orifices are clamped in a watertight manner. The rubber pad may be used for rendering a plug coupling waterproof and at the same time for preventing access to the metal parts. In this application, Fig. 7, the pad with the pierced shaped openings is provided at its edges with a ring of vulcanite D<1> to permit the free rotation of the cover. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9. the pad is combined with a sheath surrounding the base and secured by a clamping ring.
