Abstract
Liquids holding solids in solution or suspension, e.g. malt extract, milk, gelatine, are concentrated by spraying them vertically from a nozzle e situated in advance of an inlet e<1> through which hot air is blown upwardly into a conical chamber a in which the dried particles collect on the conical walls n and are removed by rotating chains t. The air passes off through tangentially or radially arranged outlets m and is separated from dust in cyclones w<1>, x, y. The liquid is pumped from a storage tank b<1> by a pump b and the air is forced by a fan h through pipes g, f to the aperture e<1> which is provided with baffles k. The chains t are <PICT:0394912/III/1> rotated by gearing v and maintained in contact with the walls by spring arms w.
