Abstract

394,503. Sifting-apparatus. WALLACE, W. J., Belmont, Tavistock Grove, West Croydon. Aug. 4, 1932, Nos. 21881 and 28464. [Class 117.] Relates to jigging conveyers or separators of the kind comprising a fixed member, a vibrating member, electromagnetic means mounted on the fixed member, a make-andbreak device operated by and arranged in circuit with said electromagnetic means, and resilient means connecting said fixed and vibrating members which opposes the action of said electromagnetic means. According to the invention one element of the electromagnetic means is secured to the fixed member and the other element to the vibrating member between the ends of said members and one element of the make-and-break device is directly mounted on the vibrating member and the other on the fixed member. As shown in the Figure, the vibrating member 5, connected to the fixed member 1 by four spring members 10, is provided with a tray or sieve 9 and a discharge opening 8 and a pair of armatures 12 co-operating with magnets 11. When the latter are energized, the member 5 is drawn forward whereby contact is broken between a spring 14 and a screw 20 and the magnets de-energized. The member 5 is retracted by members 10 so as to close the circuit the cycle of movements then being repeated.
