Abstract

394,496. Television. ARDENNE, M. VON, 19, Jungfernstieg, Lichterfelde-Ost, Berlin. July 18, 1932, No. 20245. Convention date, July 18, 1931. Addition to 387,536. [Class 40 (iii).] In a television transmitter employing a Braun tube as described in the parent Specification, in order to reduce the distortion in the image transmission, particularly when rapid variations in the signal currents occur, the signals are derived principally by virtue of the fluorescent effect rather than from the phosphorescent effect of the material composing the screen of the Braun type. For this purpose materials such as gypsum having relatively slight phosphorescence are employed, while the amplifier in the transmitter is designed so as to yield, as indicated in Fig. 3, a higher amplification factor V for the higher frequencies than for the lower frequencies f, the signals produced by the phosphorescent effect being so sluggish at the higher frequencies that they supply an input current of almost constant amplitude and are thereby eliminated on the output side. With such an amplifier the highfrequency components of the relatively weak currents arising from the fluorescent effect furnish, when amplified, an output potential approximately equal to that derived from the lower-frequency components of the relatively strong currents arising from the phosphorescent effect.
