393,958. Transformers. ALLM€NNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Võsteras, Sweden. Nov. 10, 1931, No. 31142. Convention date, Feb. 9. [Class 38 (ii).] The furnaces wherein the inductance coil consists of a number of groups a<1> .. a<5> arranged in parallel, and transformer windings c are arranged in series with some or all of the groups to obtain the required current distribution, the algebraic sum of the ampere-turns of the transformer windings is at most equal to the excitation ampere-turns. In one arrangement the algebraic sum of the ampere-turns of the secondaries is zero. In other arrangements the algebraic sum differs by an amount equal to the excitation ampere-turns so that a primary winding is unnecessary. The transformer may be designed for unequal or equal current distribution between the furnace windings. The method of calculating the ampere turns necessary for the various transformer windings is described and a particular example is worked out in detail.
