Abstract

393,072. Securing die-heads. METIVIER, LANG, ET CIE, 149, Rue de Rome, Paris. May 9, 1932, No. 13379. Convention date, May 8, 1931. [Class 83 (iii).] In a cam-operated die-head wherein the radial chasers M carry pins 3 coacting with slots 4 in the cam-plate P, the latter is provided with an arcuate slot R through which passes a locking bolt B having its nut formed as a lever D. The head of the bolt is provided with a transverse slot K which is engaged by a pin E on an operating lever A pivoted to the head 1 at C, the arrangement being such that when the lever is in the closed position, as shown in Fig. 1, the centres of the pin E and pivot C lie on a line tangential to a circle concentric with the head so that the cutting resistance on the chasers has no tendency to open the head. A spring-pressed ball co-operates with the lever A to retain it in the closed position, and a bush 2 screwed to the head 1 retains the cam-plate in position. The lever D is loosened to release the cam-plate and allow the diehead to be set to the required size whereupon, after tightening of the lever D, the head may be opened to release it from the work and reset to the same size by operation of the lever A.
