Abstract
392,864. Golf clubs. SPALDING & BROS. (BRITISH), Ltd., A. G., Deodar Road, Putney, London.- (Assignees . of Reach, W. F. ; Springfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Jan. 6, 1933, No. 529. Convention date, March 31, 1932. [Class 132 (ii).] The socket of a golf club is provided internally with a rigid sleeve to receive the shaft, such sleeve being spaced from the wall of the socket by a rubber sleeve and held against longitudinal movement. The rigid sleeve 4, Fig. 1, is vulcanized to a rubber sleeve 5 and driven into the socket 3. The sleeve is formed with a screw thread to receive the threaded lower end of the shaft and is maintained within the socket by a spring catch 6 or by a screw cap 15, Fig. 4. In a modification, Fig. 4, the sleeve is formed in two longitudinal rubber-covered halves 4b expanded by the shaft into gripping engagement with the wall of the socket.
