Abstract
Cement, cement mortar and concrete are improved by adding up to 2,5 per cent, referred to the dry cement of a protein, e.g. casein together with up to 12 per cent of an alkaline earth oxide or hydroxide, e.g. lime. If the cement already contains sufficient free lime, none need be added. In an example 100 kgs. of Portland cement are mixed with 200 gs. of casein and 800 gs. of dry slaked lime and the mixture is mixed in the usual manner with sand, gravel and water to form concrete.
