Abstract
332,282. Sperni, J. C. G. April 18, 1929. Cement.-A magnesian cement is mixed with 5-25 per cent by bulk of manganese oxide t prepare a hard setting cement. A solution of sodium silicate may be added, to improve the waterproof properties, and small quantities of potassium salts. A suitable magnesian cement is produced by finely powdering together burnt magnesite and dry unburnt clay, or magnesite and clay may be burnt together, the manganese oxide being added before or after. Fillers such as sand, sawdust, fibre, cork, leather waste, or pigments, such as 5 per cent ferric oxide may be incorporated. Specification 200,311 is referred to.
