Abstract

391,690. Boot &c. stretchers. KIESL, J., 18, Blindengasse, Vienna. Oct. 7, 1932, No. 28016. [Class 17 (iii).] A shoe-stretcher or boot-tree is provided on the underside of the forepart with clips to hold detachably a cartridge filled with substances adapted to generate heat by chemical reaction. The cartridge f is preferably secured by spring clips e on the centre line of the toe part a in such manner as to be slipped into place when the tree is in position. The cart. ridge comprises a metal container into which is inserted a mixture such as charcoal and an oxidizing agent bound together, if desired, by a paste. The outside of the cartridge may be provided with layers of insulating material or gas chambers to prevent too rapid dissipation of the heat generated.
