Abstract

391,378. Refrigerating. MAIURI, G., 5, Viale Stupinigi, Torino, Italy. Oct. 28, 1932, No. 30269. [Class 29.] In a continuous-cycle absorption system comprising a low temperature generator e and an evaporator j located within a refrigerator cabinet, a condenser element c cooled by a low temperature refrigerant such as solid carbon dioxide in an insulated compartment a, and an absorber element m located at a higher level outside the cabinet and cooled by air, the vapour from the evaporator j is led through a nozzle k opening just below the level of liquor in a conduit g<1>, g between the generator and absorber and serves to lift the liquor into the absorber, whence it returns by gravity through a conduit n<1>, interchanger n, and conduit n<2> to the other end of the generator. The generator and condenser contain air or other inert gas circulating through conduits f, d, and the generator and absorber have baffles to retain pools of liquid. The carbon dioxide vapour may be vented into the interstices of the insulation. It is stated that cold is produced in the generator additional to that transferred indirectly from the solid carbon dioxide by the refrigerant evaporating in the element j.
