Abstract
390,872. Metallic-vapour apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Brucker, G. W. ; 1458, Baker Avenue, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 22, 1931, No. 29354. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1930. [Class 39 (i).] The vapour in the vicinity of the anode is deionized by means of a tubular screen which consists of carbon or carboncoated material, and is arranged so that the space surrounding the anode is in communication with the atmosphere of the device by a passage through the screen and by a path over the external walls thereof. A screen 12, Figs. 1 and 2, has the form of a frustum of a cone, the diameter of the larger end of which is substantially equal to the height thereof. The larger end is arranged nearest the anode 10 and the screen is provided with a tapered or cylindrical passage 13. The screen is screwed into a steel ring 14 which is supported by the shield 11 through steel members 15, bent to increase their resiliency. The supports may consist of straight members which are arranged tangentiallv to the screen and secured thereto through short members perpendicular to the supports. In a modification, the screen is formed with lugs which are adapted loosely to engage slots in supports provided on the internal wall of the shield. Specification 359,587 is referred to.
