Abstract
390,348. Inductances. BIDDINGTON, T. A. and FIELD, R., 54, Union Street, Plymouth. May 31, 1932, No. 15455. [Class 37.] A tuning inductance comprises a long, medium, and short waveband coil unit with switch mechanism to connect the coil circuits for each waveband, and means located between the short-wave grid coil and long-wave coils for preventing interaction when the short-wave winding is in use, the long-wave winding being short-circuited as usual when the medium waveband is used. The windings are preferably arranged on a common former, but side-byside or concentric arrangements may be employed. The windings comprise a combined long-wave coil 4, 4a, of which the portion 4a is short-circuited for medium wave work, the winding 5 being the common reaction therefor. The short-wave grid coil 6 is located remote from the windings 4, 4a and its reaction coil 7 is positioned between the windings 4, 5, 6 thus preventing interaction on short-wave working. A portion of the reaction winding 5 may be wound between the coils 4, 6. A metal screen 8 may be interposed between the long and short wave windings. Switches are provided to parallel the short-wave grid and reaction windings with the corresponding long-wave coils, or to short-circuit the long-wave coils and parallel the reaction windings.
