Abstract
389,528. Casting processes. BAILEY, R. W., 20, Grange Avenue, Hale, Cheshire, ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and ENGLISH STEEL CORPORATION, Ltd., Vickers Works, Sheffield. Sept. 18, 1931, No. 26220. [Class 83 (i).] Moulds.-In cooling castings, as in Specification 371,371, the gas supplied is preheated by passing it through a heat-exchange apparatus, such as a coil 9, Fig. 1, or 13, Fig. 2, heated by hot gas from the top of the ingot. The volume of hot gas, passing to the apparatus, may be controlled by valves, so as to regulate the temperature of the gas supplied to the mould. For a large steel ingot this temperature may be about 450‹ C. The mould may be provided with a cover 15.
