Abstract
389,089. Pipe couplings ; beer engines. BROWN, D. J. K., 61A, Birch Street, Moss Side, Manchester. June 5, 1931, No. 16420. [Classes 99 (i) and 102 (i).] A swivel pipe joint comprises a yoke 14 having a collar swivellingly mounted by a nut 15 on an elbow 4 and carrying a screw 16 having a ball bearing 18 engaging a recess in an elbow 5 which has a spigot end fitting into the elbow 4 and carries packing 13 on which the end of the elbow 4 abuts. The screw is locked by a nut 19. In connecting a barrel to a beer engine, a pair of joints are used as shown to form a universal joint, the elbow 4 being connected to a pipe at 9 and to the ceiling by a bracket 7. A telescopic tube 20, 22 having a stuffing-box joint 23 is connected by a similar swivel joint 26 to a beer barrel.
