387,632. Cigarette-maldng machines. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINEN-FABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauer Strasse, Dresden, Germany. Oct. 11, 1932, No. 28344. Convention date, Sept. 14. [Class 130.] In a tobacco spreader for continuous-rod machines, the tobacco descending through the delivery hopper c into the rod trough is given a movement in the direction of feed of the rod by compressed-air nozzles p arranged at the lower end of the hopper. As shown, the rod trough is formed by hollow members e, f fitted. with cover-plates g, h, the part f being mounted on hinged arms i. The compressed-air nozzles consist of forwardly directed horizontal bores p or adjustable nozzles, and the members e, f are connected to a compressed-air supply pipe provided with a shut-off valve q connected by a pull rod r to the stopping device of the machine. The front wall of the hopper c has a forwardly sloping part s and the forward end of the rod trough is not provided with air nozzles orbores p.
