Abstract

387,253. Liquid-fuel burner valves. BROWN, T. T., MITCHELL, J. W., and SWINNEY BROS., Ltd., Wansbeck Ironworks, Morpeth, Northumberland. Aug. 10, 1932, No. 22396. [Class 135.] Valves actuated indirectly.-In a liquid-fuel burner, valves 24 in the oil and air supply passages are opened when the burner 1 is clamped in position by a screw 3 which can only be released when the fuel or fuel and air or steam control valves 12, 13 are closed, the valves 24 closing automatically when the burner is removed. The burner 1 is secured in the holder 2 bv a screw 3 formed with a hand-wheel or hexagonal portion 19. The fuel and air control valves 12, 13 are operated against spring pressure by a plate 14 carried by a cover 17 which is threaded on an upward extension of the screw 3 and is formed with a recess which surrounds the head 19 and prevents the screw from being turned except when the valves 12, 13 are closed. In another construction the fuel control valve is opened against spring pressure by a lever arm pivoted to a projection on the burner mounting. While the valve is open a cover carried by the arm shrouds the head of the clamping screw and the lever arm may be held in position either by a locking wheel threaded on an extension of the clamping screw or by a pin inserted through the arm into a hole in burner mounting.
