[Class 3 (i).] The front panel of a stack of independent panels 5 is exposed to view at a window 34 in a casing 1 and is then raised, transferred rearward, and deposited at the back of the stack. The travelling means comprise two parallel endless chains 13 driven continuously by a motor 14, each chain having an inward projecting pin 15 which engages a groove 6 in the side of the front panel 5. The grooves 6 extend about half-way up the panel, and to ensure the pins 15 entering the grooves, the rails 3 on which the panels slide or run horizontally have aligning notches 16 into which the front panel drops. A guide 32 steers the descending panel to the rear of the stack, and pusher devices are provided for pressing the stack forward. The upper pusher comprises counterbalanced cams 20 which are given a part turn about their shaft 18 by arms 19 engaged by outward projecting pins 26 on the chains 13. The lower pusher consists of buffers 23 at the bottom of pivoted levers 24 the upper rounded ends of which are forced back by the descending pins 26. A spring or gravity actuated detent 27 takes over projections 30 on the panels to retain the stack upright after the pushers are retracted. Sideplates 31 align the panels. An endless display band 38 mounted on rollers 39, 40 in a casing 33 is moved step by step to expose a different indication for each panel 5. A lamp and reflector 142 illuminate either a single stationary stencil 41, or each in turn of stencils mounted on the panels. Fig. 4 shows a deep panel 5 adapted to contain goods for display. The pins 15 on the chains 13 are provided with heads to engage grooves 43 on the panel sides. Lamps 44 in the panel are lit when the panel is in display position by a spring-pressed contact and by a rotary switch operated by pins on the chains 13. A single central pusher only is provided in this form.
