384,866. Moulding brake linings. DOSKY, A. VON, 20, Am Unteren Bahnhof, Plauen, Saxony, Germany. March 15, 1932, No. 7643. [Class 87 (ii).] A method of manufacturing brake linings from a continuous band of textile fibrous material which is impregnated with a suitable compound and hardened by the application of heat is characterized by the impregnated material being passed through a curved heating channel e which closely surrounds the band and in which the desired curvature and hardness is imparted to the band in one passage through the channel. The channel e surrounds a drum a provided with projections i for imprinting rivet holes and gapped knives k for indenting the band into lengths. The impregnated belt is fed into the channel at g and is compressed between the drum and channel during the application of heat by superheated steam or gas jets h.
