Abstract

384,521. Drawing-pens. KOVACS, T., 55, Kufsteinerstrasse, Sch÷neberg, Berlin. April 2, 1932, No. 9495. [Class 97 (iii).] A writing, drawing or ruling nib comprises two superposed members made of relatively thin flexible material such as pen steel, either the lower member or both members being provided with writing-ends, and the upper member being pivoted to the lower member on an axis perpendicular to the face of the shank. A nib for drawing broad lines or for ornamental writing comprises a shank part 1 having a marking-end 1a of reduced width and a portion 3 stamped up into a plane parallel to the shank 1, the overlying member 6 being pivoted to the portion 3. The end 2 of the part 1a is of the width of the stroke or line to be drawn and is bent up slightly. The lower part 6a of the member 6 is bent inwards so as to lie close to and parallel with the part 1a, an indentation 8 in the member 6 spacing the members apart, and the end of the member 6 is bent up to conform to the end 2. The upper end of the member 6 is provided with an indentation 9 co-operating with a recess 10 in the shank 1 to retain the parts in normal position. In a modification suitable for use as a drawing pen, the parts 1a, 6a are straight and of equal length, and are similarly bevelled to provide two opposite triangular points. The part 6a is slightly narrower than the part 1a except at the triangular end to prevent ink from running on to a ruler.
